Delta Bridges Charter School to Open in North Stockton

TRACY – The Delta Charter Schools family will be increasing in the Fall 2015, as Delta Bridges Charter School will open in northeast Stockton to serve students in grades K-5 its initial year and expand to K-8 the following year.

Michelle Cozad Selected to Community College Basketball Hall of Fame, Class of 2015

Delta College congratulates Michelle Cozad, former Delta Basketball standout (2001-2003) for her induction into the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Class of 2015.

Michelle has been a member of championship teams at every level of competition. Her numerous community college basketball honors include: Bay Valley Conference MVP in 2002 and 2003; 1st Team All-State Honors in both 2002-2003.

In addition to holding Delta's single game scoring record (44 points), season record (19.5 ppg/606 points) and career (1,328 points), Michelle holds the Delta College record for highest free throw percentage in one season, 84.6%.

UC Berkeley Northern California Raza Day at Delta College Saturday, March 21

Outreach & Community Relations has partnered with the UC Berkeley Raza Recruitment & Retention Center to host UC Berkeley Northern California Raza Day at San Joaquin Delta College, Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Danner Hall.

Delta College’s Raza Day will kick off of a week long effort of recruitment. This event is the first time the UC Berkeley’s Raza Recruitment Center will host a major Community College Outreach Program in Northern California. Target Audience includes high school seniors from our district, Delta College students, parents, and educators. Register by March 18th to be considered for $100 Delta College Scholarship, must be present to be considered. All are welcome to participate!

Arthur Miller Scholar Stephen Marino to Speak at Delta College

In conjunction with Delta College Drama’s production of Death of a Salesman (March 13, 14, 20-21), Dr. Stephen Marino, a prominent Miller scholar and drama critic on the playwright’s works, will visit the college from New York to lead three presentations on Friday, March 20th at Delta’s Alfred H. Muller Studio Theater. Delta’s production of Death of a Salesman is directed by Harvey Jordan.

University of the Pacific program will help meet nationwide demand for data scientists

University of the Pacific this fall will begin showing working professionals not only how to crunch data, but how to use the information to help their organizations prosper.

Pacific’s School of Engineering and Computer Science is offering a new master of science degree in analytics, a high-paying field facing an acute shortage of professionals. The program will be based at the university’s new, state-of-the-art campus in San Francisco.

With courses such as Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Visualization, the program will combine rigorous academic training in analytics along with the practical experience of working on real-world case studies of issues facing industries today.
