Lodi's F & M Bank Exec named to Federal Reserve Bank advisory panel

Kent Steinwert, chairman and CEO of of Farmers' & Merchants Bank of Central California (F&M Bank), has been named to the small bank advisory panel for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The panel, formally known as the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council, provides Fed leaders with input on the economy including lending conditions. Steinwert says he will be able to speak for the economic climate in the Central Valley. He joined F & M Bank, based in Lodi, in 1997 and has been president & CEO for 16 years. He became bank chairman in 2010.

Brookside Country Club GM Obtains Highest Distinction

Alecia Escajeda, General Manager of Brookside Golf & Country Club in Stockton, has achieved the designation of “Certified Club Manager” CCM with the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA).

Escajeda is the only Country Club General Manager in San Joaquin county to earn this designation and is among an elite group of  club managers worldwide to have achieved this hallmark professionalism.

Alecia Escajeda qualified for the CCM examination after fulfilling requirements in Club Management experience, education and association activity. The CCM examination require expertise in areas of leadership, communication, club governance, financial management, human and professional resources, food and beverage operations, facilities management, principals of management and recreation management.

San Joaquin County Supervisors appoint new Airport Director

The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has announced its selection of Harry Mavrogenes as the new Director of the Stockton Metropolitan Airport effective February 14th. Mavrogenes has been acting as Interim Director of the Airport since July 2013. Mavrogenes has served as San Joaquin County's Chief Deputy County Administrator since November 2012.

During this time he developed an Economic Strategy for the County as well as establishing a strong presence for San Joaquin County in the Silicon Valley including the opening of an office in Santa Clara. He was also a key player in helping to establish the County as an Innovation Hub (iHub).

San Joaquin Delta College produces thousands of career success stories. The Junior College was recently named one of the top Junior colleges in the nation. It is a great place to get your start in life whether re-entering the work force or getting your AA before moving on to a 4 year university.

Sarah Buhr is a teacher at St. Mary's High School. She got her start at SJDC with an AA in Spanish and another AA in Arts & Sciences, she also played basketball with the Lady Mustangs.

Delta Hosts SkillsUSA Regional Competition, Feb. 1

For the 4th year in a row, San Joaquin Delta College will host the SkillsUSA Region 5 Competition on Saturday, February 1. The proceedings start at 9 a.m. in Atherton Auditorium, with the day’s competitions taking place throughout the campus.
