Homeless burglar is behind bars for longer, this time

STOCKTON, CA - The homeless man arrested repeatedly for breaking into a vacant office building will spend more time in jail following his most recent arrest.

Stockton police and county mental health officials asked a judge to set a high bail amount so Jason Duran spends more time there and perhaps gets the help he needs.

Duran said in a jail interview he's been homeless since separating from his wife and 3 step children. He said he needed shelter at the Benjamin Holt Drive office complex in Stockton where he breaks in practically every night.

"It's been freezing cold at night. I'm not too familiar with being homeless. That's the only place I know that's abandoned and still has heat in it. I'd got there and try to stay warm," said Duran.
