Delta Bridges Charter School to Open in North Stockton

TRACY – The Delta Charter Schools family will be increasing in the Fall 2015, as Delta Bridges Charter School will open in northeast Stockton to serve students in grades K-5 its initial year and expand to K-8 the following year.

Don’t Miss the Magic of the 28th Annual Mariposa Storytelling Festival

Transport yourself to a simpler time in Mariposa, located near Yosemite National Park in Northern California, with multiple live storytelling sessions by the finest storytellers in the nation. From National Public Radio contributors to award-winning authors, these speakers recreate the craft of famed storytellers like Mark Twain, Garrison Keillor and Will Rogers. The Mariposa County Arts Council’s 28th Mariposa Storytelling Festival, occurring from March 13-15, 2015, has two evening events, more performances throughout the day on Saturday, a special Yosemite Concert on Sunday and magical adventures for every story fan.

Ministers and Community United, Inc. held its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration at the Civic Auditorium on January 18 and 19.  I decided to attend Sunday’s program especially after learning that Geraldine Edwards Hollis, original member of the Tougaloo Nine and author of the book “Back to Mississippi” would be the keynote speaker elaborating on this year’s theme of Freedom, Justice, and Equality.
